The whole story centers around the main character Binny Baumann who along with her parents Wanda and Roland decide to move form the life in Hamburg in an old house, or better said mansion in Berlin Pancow. While she tries to accommodate to that new house she discovers that she has an unwanted roommate who is actually a ghost, the spirit of a 14 years old boy named Melchior who was born in 1899 and died at the age of 14.

After documenting herself about ghost and certain spirits, she realizes that he must solve crimes and injusties that will help him get free from this ghost existence and move on. While she starts helping him , she gets to care for him and they become best friends. In the series they get to go on fun adventures together, solve certain mysteries and find more and more things about Melchior and his family. Melchior wants to find out what happened to his parents and for that he needs the help of Binny. In the beginning Binny did not believe in the supernatural, but now she believes and she even has a friendly ghost living in her room, her best friend.
