On the night of her birthday, her mother is abducted because of a cup she has stolen many years ago from the Circle, a rogue group of Shadowhunters to whom she belonged too. Jocelyn Fray did not agree with the concept of the Circle who wanted to create their own army of Shadow hunters using the immortal cup. The leader of this group was her husband and Clary’s father, named Valentine Morgentern who seemed to have gone crazy. In the same day that her mother was abducted, Clary saw a shadow hunter named Jace, to whom she went to seek help to save her mother. Together they go on a tremendous adventure where Clary finds out a lot about her past and so does Jace. In just one day Clary must accept the fact that creatures such as fairies, werewolves, demons and vampires exists and that her father was a mad man from whom her mother had run with her and hide for eighteen years.
