You will use the mouse to move your avatar around the course and you will star in the prehistoric age with just a stick in your hand and then you should go through the gates that give you more years, through additions or multipliers, so that you transform into a better soldier with better weapons as well.
 
So as you can see, even though you start with just a stick, you might end up with swords, spears or even rifles if you are good enough! You will have to use your weapons to defeat enemies in your path and also make sure to avoid the bad gates that are in red, because these will take off your years and make you weaker.
